“My business is growing substantially and I now required a vehicle with a far greater payload capacity to allow me to provide a more efficient service to my customers. The local Mercedes dealer Ciceley in Preston recommended that, based on their recent experience, the GRP van conversion with a crrier system would be ideal for this new vehicle,” said Steven Rimmer.

Steven Rimmer Eggs deliver fresh palletised eggs to a range of customers in the Southport and Liverpool area, ranging from hotels and B and Bs, through to schools, nursing homes and convenience stores. The capacity of the new Mercedes Sprinter panel van allows them to fit up to 24,000 eggs into the temperature controlled vehicle, making the delivery journeys far more efficient. The van has the capacity to fit four Euro pallets, which makes loading quicker and gives them the ability to supply larger customers who specify pallet deliveries only.

The specification of the GRP van conversion, which features a Carrier Transicold Viento 350 (road only) refrigeration system, is designed to keep the eggs at a temperature of 15°C. The Sprinter has an alloy floor, and has been fully lined by GRP at its factory in Leeds, including full wheel box protection. As a result, this facilitates the cleaning of the interior after each delivery run. The vehicle also features an extra side loading door, with doors now on both sides, whilst GRP also arranged for the refrigeration unit to be spray painted in metallic silver to match the exterior of the Sprinter.

Supplied by local dealer Ciceley in Preston, the Mercedes Sprinter delivered to Steven Rimmer Eggs Ltd will have a working life of approximately four years and is certainly a high specification vehicle, having been fitted with reversing cameras and sensors, a full sat nav/DVD system and air conditioning.
