1902, at the age of 26, Dr. Willis Carrier perfected the principles of modern air conditioning

At the turn of the last century, Dr. Willis Carrier was a printer in Brooklyn, New York. In the height of the summer they suffered both high temperatures and very high levels of humidity. This caused a problem in not allowing the ink to dry.

Because Willis Carrier had engineering knowledge, he invented a machine to extract the moisture from the atmosphere, thus allowing the inks to dry. As a by product it was noticed that the air was being cooled as the humidity was being removed. Dr. Willis Carrier left the printing industry and started the Carrier Engineering Corporation, and so was born the air conditioning and refrigeration industry as we know it today.
